Cervical prolapse is rare in childhood. The most common presentation is a mass protruding from the vulva in the first few days of life. Most reported cases are associated with meningomyelocele or other central nervous system anomalies. Genital prolapse has been described in preterm infants with no nervous system anomalies. Prompt reduction is important. The two most successful management approaches are digital replacements and the use of small pessaries. Digital replacement requires multiple reductions. A nipple inserted in the vagina can be used as a pessary, or it can be made with a rolled Penrose drain attached to a silk guide string.
