Twelve percent of those with lymphomatoid granulomatosis degenerate to lymphoma. Lymphoma may involve the upper respiratory tract without lymphomatoid granulomatosis. The demographics are similar for both diseases. In addition to the differences discussed earlier, lymphomas have a worse prognosis, and treatment, which consists of radiation therapy, is usually unsuccessful. Chemotherapy is now being used frequently.
