Improvement in asthma often follows surgery for chronic sinusitis, and a connection between hyperreactive lower airway disease and allergic rhinosinusitis has been postulated. Improvement in asthma after pharmacotherapy for allergic rhinosinusitis has not been conclusively shown. Many patients with nasal allergies also have asthma, and management of the two disorders requires close cooperation between the specialists involved.
